If you want to make your pointe shoes last as long as possible, keep reading for all the tips! 1. Let Them Dry Out Completely Damp shoes will break down faster. What Does A Pointe Shoe Fitter Actually Do?
A properly trained pointe shoe fitter is more important than you think! We are the first ones to identify a potential injury or an injury in the making. We can take the pain out of pointe, and we will fit you into a shoe that will work with you instead of against you. Also, because we are one-on-one with the dancer and eye level with their feet, we can catch things that your teacher might miss (because the teacher is teaching a class of 20 other dancers and they aren’t crawling around on the floor checking everyone’s feet.) Fitters at The Cinnamon Tree are trained in Josephine Lee’s Progressive Pointe…

What Kind Of Bra Do You Wear Under A Leotard For Dance?
Managing a dancewear store, one question I get almost weekly is what kind of bra do you wear under a leotard? Or, how do you wear a bra under a leotard? It really comes down to comfort level, personal preference, and studio uniform. Also, a lot of girls don’t wear a bra under their leotard. Back when I was dancing (we’re talking 2000’s), I’d wear a black sports bra under my black leotards if I even wore a bra. My studio wasn’t too strict when it came to a sports bra showing underneath. Some studio’s are more strict and don’t allow undergarments to show. Because we’re a dancewear store as…

Russian Pointe Rubin Dupe? Russian Pointe Rubin vs. Merlet Lisa
The most popular Russian Pointe model we sell is the Rubin. As we can no longer get Rubin’s and Rubin Radiances, we’ve switched multiple dancers out of the Russian Pointe Rubin to the Merlet Lisa! The shape of the shoes are very similar and the Merlet Lisa has interchangeable shanks (so the shoe will last longer. Once the shank is dead, you can just swap it out!) Let’s break down the similarities between the Rubin and the Lisa. *The shoes in the photos are comparable sizes. The Rubin photographed is a 38W3V2. The Lisa photographed is a 38C. Vamp: The photo is a Rubin with a Vamp 2. The Lisa’s…

How We’re Reducing Plastic In Store | Plastics In The Dancewear & Retail Industry
At this point, I think everyone is aware that plastic, especially single use plastics are bad for the environment. Plastic doesn’t break down and decompose very quickly so it ends up in landfills and the ocean. It takes 1000 years for plastic to fully degrade! Animals also have trouble distinguishing plastic from food so they end up eating it. Not only are plastics bad for the environment, but they’re bad for our health as well. Most plastic, especially single use plastics contain toxic chemicals including BPA which is a hormone disruptor. Hormone disrupting chemicals can cause anything from hormone imbalances, to hormonal cancers. The retail industry uses an outrageous amount…

Does The Perfect Dance Bag Exist? We Think So!
Are you on the hunt for the perfect dance bag?? Look no further than the Gaynor Minden Studio Backpack! This backpack is so spacious for its size. It’s perfect for transporting your dance stuff to and from the studio, and it’s also perfect to pack your things for a weekend getaway. When I was dancing, I used to haul my stuff to and from in a duffle bag. It worked fine however, my stuff was always disorganized, and the bag was so bulky! Especially around show time when I had to haul 15 costumes to/from the theater, the duffle bag got in the way. Traditional backpacks are too small for…
